Kent is the home of many fine producers and farmers, and we're lucky enough at The Kings Head to count some of the best as our suppliers.  From the internationally regarded award winning wines at Gusbourne, to our friends at ripple farm organics in wye, there is much to be proud about right on our doorstep.

The original Gusbourne Estate in Appledore, Kent dates back to 1410. In 2004, Andrew Weeber took over the estate with a clear vision and a single goal: to create English sparkling wines that would stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe. The first vines were planted that year. Gusbourne quickly earned a reputation as a producer of outstanding quality wines, with accolades from some of the industry's most exacting critics. Recent award highlights include a record six gold medals in 2015, including two ‘gold outstanding’ medals awarded by the international wine and spirits competition.

Martin and Sarah Mackey are what make Ripple Farm tick, essentially a market garden producing a wide range of vegetables, salad crops, herbs and some soft fruit. Producing some of the finest produce throughout the year with the help of up to 15 staff, the organic, horticultural farm of 14 acres is situated in the Stour Valley at Crundale, Kent between Ashford and Canterbury. The fields slope up towards the North Downs, giving light, chalky soil. This free draining soil, blessed by the warmer climate of the Southeast, produces vegetables of great taste and quality. In addition to the Home Farm, Martin and Sarah also rent a Victorian Walled Garden at Olantigh near Wye and fields covering 100 acres below Wye Crown (formerly part of the Wye College Farm). Ripple Farm has been certified Organic since 1989 and is certified organic by the Soil Association.
