We're taking a trip back in time, 6 years ago to Autumn 2012, when the grand old Kings Head hadn't yet got to know its current owners Mark & Scott. Digging in the archives we've found some photos before we created the King's Head you know today.
From the street and in the front door, here we are in the bar. We've still got the stools, and the bottles on the top shelf! That shelf on the left behind the bar is now above the coffee machine, who knew it was concealing a secret (!!!). Antone guess what it was?
The round table is now in the restaurant, table number 9. That mirror was recycled somewhere too, in the ladies toilet I think.
The bandit has been re-homed, somewhere... As has the "artwork"! We don’t speak about the woman on the right, but on the left you’ll see our good friend Joan, before we even knew her!
You've probably sat in one of these seats, they're all in the restaurant, but we gave some of them a lick of paint, Farrow & Ball styleee. Take a close look at the ceiling, see that little white square? It’s a playing card from one of magician Etienne Pradier’s tricks! And check out that angry notice on the wall, basically “NO CHILDREN ALLOWED!!!!!!!” Someone definitely didn’t like kids as the premises licence doesn’t actually mention anything to this effect!
Anyone for chess? And just don't ask about that wooden wheely cart thingy, it was the catalyst of quite a fracas! That mirror has a new home by table 11 too.
We'll have more from the archives soon to celebrate our first 6 years at The Kings Head!
